We encourage all communities to walk or cycle for short trips.

About 60% of the Tasman District Council is conservation land.
This is largely forested mountainous terrain in the three national parks Kahurangi, Nelson Lakes, and Abel Tasman. There are a great number of tramping options from less than an hour to multi-day excursions.
The Department of Conservation has publications and maps for the tracks and walks in the Tasman District. These are available for purchase at their offices and online.
