The entrance to the underpass near Brightwater School has been given a facelift thanks to the work of a local artist and some willing helpers from the school.
This project was funded through Creative Communities.
Arts Council Nelson applied on behalf of the Brightwater community, and employed the talents of artist Dani Hedges who has done other mural projects around Tasman for us.
She says working with these amazing kids from Brightwater School has been super fun.
“We worked together with shapes and colours, each creating their own designs for the underpass which we merged into two funky bright designs.”
Dani says the students smashed out painting the design over a couple of sessions and she couldn’t be prouder!
... And the team of young artists loved getting the opportunity to creatively improve a much-used and what was a slightly drab area behind their school.
