Buses

On 3 August 2020 fares changed with the introduction of the new electronic Bee Card. Cards will be available for free on the Bee Card website and our retail outlets (see list below) until 31 October 2020. Following that the cards will cost $5 and the minimum top up amount is $5. 

The number of zones will be reduced to three which also makes travel cheaper. 

You can get your Bee Card at Tasman District Council office in Richmond, the Richmond Library,  Nelson City Council, Nelson and Stoke Libraries, the bus depot in Bridge Street, Nelson or online via the bee card website, beecard.co.nz.

Concessions 

• Children aged under five years travel free.
• A child fare applies to anyone aged between five and fifteen years or enrolled in secondary school while wearing a school uniform or on production of a school ID card.
• The student cardholder fare applies to those aged 18 and under or enrolled in a Nelson or Tasman tertiary institution on production of an ID card. 
• Community Services cardholder fare applies to those on production of their card.
• Holders of SuperGold cards can travel for free on off-peak services (9am-3pm and after 6.30pm weekdays and all weekend). Outside of these hours a full fare must be paid. For ease of travel, SuperGold card holders are encouraged to obtain a Bee Card and have the SuperGold concessions loaded on it. This will allow them to simply tag on and off the same as all other passengers and still travel for free at the specified times.

The NBus runs between Richmond and Nelson seven days a week. Buses are wheelchair accessible and have bike racks. The service is operated by Nelson Coachlines Ltd.

Nelson Coachlines also run N-Bus services in Nelson city.

Abel Tasman Coachlines operates regular services to Motueka, Kaiteriteri, Mārahau and Takaka

This late night loop service travels to Nelson via Bishopdale and returns to Richmond via Tahunanui.

The Late Late Bus does not have bike racks and is not wheelchair accessible.
