We have moved the Gardner Valley Road & Moutere Highway intersection. A new section of road has opened up on Gardner Valley Road just north of the old intersection approach and the old section of Gardner Valley Road (between the cemetery and the Moutere Highway) has been closed off.
The old intersection approach on Gardner Valley Road was very steep, with sharp hair-pin bends. The new intersection approach is much safer.

We replaced the Mission Bridge with a new stronger, wider bridge.
The replacement was necessary, because the existing bridge had no safety barriers and no safe space for pedestrians or cyclists. At just six metres wide, it was too narrow and unsuitable for heavy vehicles.
Given its age (it was constructed in the 1920s), it was removed completely and replaced with a new ten metre wide bridge with safety barriers.
The larger bridge also has more capacity for water to flow underneath it during severe weather events.
