It is recommended recreational users allow the water to clear before using the beach again after periods of heavy rainfall.
Patons Rock Beach is a 15 minute drive northwest of Takaka.
During the peak Christmas-January period the beach has between 80 and 120 visitors a day.
The main recreational use is swimming and boating.
