It is recommended recreational users allow the water to clear before using the beach again after periods of heavy rainfall.
Tata Beach is a 15 minute drive northeast Takaka off Abel Tasman Drive.
During the peak Christmas-January period the beach has about 200 and 600 visitors a day.
The main recreational uses are swimming, water-skiing and kayaking.
