Comment: This site is by the coast and acts as a sentinel well to monitor levels/salinity in this aquifer that stretches out to the sea below the Waimea estuary. The water levels in this well get affected by pumpage from other large wells due to the lower permeability of the LCA. When water levels are constantly below 0m the risk of seawater intrusion into the aquifer increases. Water restrictions are brought in when levels constantly get below 0m.
