Nelson Drag Racing Association
Motueka Aerodrome, 124 Queen Street, Motueka.
Legally described as: Lot 2 DP 18903, Record of Title NL12C/388.
The proposed activity is for four drag racing events per year at Motueka Aerodrome.
This is a replacement consent for their existing one that expired on 11 May 2019.
The drag racing would be held on Saturdays – with a backup day to the next day (Sunday) for two of the events – any National Race or Easter Saturday event. This might involve transferring all or part of an event to that next day to complete the whole race programme.
Any event would run between 10am and 4pm on a Saturday, but could be extended to 5pm if there were certain circumstances beyond the control of the consent holder that caused delays in the event programme. On any backup Sunday, the event would run between 1pm and finish at 4pm if only part of the scheduled race programme had been transferred. If the whole event had to be accommodated, then the full six hour race programme could be transferred (10am to 4pm). Any transfer to a backup Sunday is subject to other conditional parameters put forward by the applicant.
Further, the proposal includes:
Land use consent as a discretionary activity in the Rural 1 zone is sought for the four drag racing events per year for a ten year period.
While this is a replacement consent, the Council has allowed the applicant the right to continue to operate under the expired consent until a final decision, including any appeals, is made on this current resource consent application (see s124 of the RMA).
The application included an assessment of environmental effects. You can see all the application documents and submissions received below.
