Review of the local alcohol policy

Tasman District Council is seeking submissions on a proposal to review the Tasman District Council Local Alcohol Policy.

The Local Alcohol Policy (LAP) has been in force since 14 March 2015 and must be reviewed prior to 14 March 2021 to remain in force. The most significant impact of the LAP is to limit the hours that Licensed Premises may trade, compared to the default national maximum trading hours permitted by the Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act 2012. The Council has proposed that no change is made to the existing LAP.

You are invited to have your say on the intention to leave the LAP unchanged through this review. You can read the full statement of proposal or see a hard copy at the following locations:

How to have your say:

Submissions are open from Tuesday 25 August until Friday 25 September 2020.

Anyone who wishes to do so will have the opportunity to speak in support of their submission at a hearing to be held on 14 October 2020.
